the great indoors
During the 2020 lockdown, when most of us were stuck inside, staring at our walls or screens, and missing our friends, families, and outside lives, we all shared one perspective: the view from inside.
In spite of all the isolation and dread, lockdown also brought with it some unexpected pleasures: more time to read, cook, and make art. More time to imagine, because what else was there to do?
These paintings were inspired by various clippings I collected during that time. While I usually find inspiration outdoors, in natural features such as mountains, trees, and water, during the beginning of the pandemic, I found it in books on the shelf, a curio on a case, or flowers in a vase.
